meet bay-area based designer + artist, ariel hilomen

A graphic designer, illustrator and artist, Ariel Hilomen is all about bold street aesthetics and eye-popping accents.

This is me.

I love freelance commission work, Genshin Impact character designs, the color combo blue and orange, window shopping online, curating new Starbucks drinks, and hanging out with my German Shepherd, Isaac.

ABOUT ME

Graduating UC Davis as a double major in both art and design in 2020, I had a fulfilling college life of adventures, meeting new friends, and making new connections. During and after my time there, I have been sharpening how I do my freelance art commissions; how to professionally handle the aesthetic of my work and keep consistent with clients on my processes. As long as I can remember, I’ve been on social media as a freelance commission artist, doing character design and visual development projects. This comes with building an online personality and working through a variety of platforms. There’s a whole world of online artists and designers that also have loads of talent. As another person in the art and design community, my niche is in the form of visualizing other people’s personas as dynamic and interesting characters, as well as producing content that is fun for both fans and other artists to use as inspiration.

ASPIRATIONS

Impacting a company positively and leaving a lasting impression is the end goal for me. Whether that be in logo design, conceptual work or overall visual development, I would be more than happy to be a part of it, as it would mean I can start a career in something I’m passionate about. Currently I live in Silicon Valley, here to work alongside like-minded individuals who are as passionate in art and design as I am. I aspire to have that sense of belonging, to surround myself with others that will make me feel a sense of community in a position that I believe is my main purpose.

I still believe that I’m in a progressing stage of my life where I haven’t found a place to settle down yet career-wise. I feel like I’m still a junior, still dipping into the art and design industry and it can feel at times impossible to break in. Currently I’m looking for a full-time career in a creative field that I can call my sense of community. I not only wish to strengthen my skill set, but also be in an environment working alongside other talented visual designers and artists, sharing new ideas, and have more firsthand experience in the art and design industry.
